I am not so arrogant to assume that everybody coming to this site is interested in my art (I get an awful lot of traffic for globalisation and the environment and variants on that) so Why Mice Sing is going to be split into three streams (art, science, society) and a hodgepodge called “Asides”:
Art: My art and art projects (such as the Vulgar Army), as well as tutorials, and pointers to other artists and related articles, events etc.
Science: The will essays, literature reviews and “In briefs” on geology and related articles from the other physical sciences. I am at a point (just finished honours) that I feel confident about writing this subject.
Politics, Law and Society: I am going to try and keep this related impact of earth processes i.e. climate change, resources (energy and minerals), hazards, geoconservation on politics (policy), law and society.
Asides: Random anecdotes and things that catch my fancy. Also, boring stuff like site updates.
So what does this mean?
When you visit the front page of this site, there will be a “featured” articles section as well as four lists of recent articles from the four different streams (something like ScienceBlogs). I will also be setting up three subdomains: science.whymicesing.com, art.whymicesing.com and society.whymicesing.com so, if you only want science or art you can have a page with just that. Although it will be easy to get to the other streams, and once you move away from that front page you will return to normal Why Mice Sing space.
Timeline
Well, that is the plan. It will probably come into fruition later this year. Probably sometime between mid-June and early-August 2008.
