New Job at Mt Isa

Well, I have finished honours. I have a short term contract logging core at Mt Isa in Queensland (Australia). Something to help me get out the hole of “poor very broke student” (it will be paying my trip to Helsinki) and give me time to decide on what I want to do for the next few years. This may cause some problems for the Vulgar Army/Cat’s Paw projects as I am not sure what the internet access is like on site (I think I am living on site). I’m assured there is some potential for internet access. I will post when I find out (assuming I have internet access of course).

“Or the case of the nuns throwing eggs”: I was ambling down the road towards home last winter, when something collided with edge of my arm. Someone had thrown an egg at me, from behind, from a moving vehical. What brave souls. Egg throwing is a regular occurrence in H_____. At least it is going by the regular occurrence of shattered eggy remains on the street. May they RIP. It is in moments like those that I wish I had superhuman reflexes and so I could have lobbed that egg back through their rear window.

CrashOctopus

Some lovely gouache and pencil cephalopod art by Meg Lyman. She also has a blog CrashOctopus: An Ode to Art and Beer. Both art and beer are subjects close to my heart I recommend you go check it out. (Via Squid.us)

SquidSquid

There is a 698kg squid building a website at squidsquid.com. Really. According to this website my squidname is michelle the gelatinous mollusc. Except that I am a goldfish. I am confused. Probably why I am a goldfish. This will make more sense after you visit squidsquid.

Unspeakable Vault

(Of Doom) Or Weird Tales From the Old Ones: A webcomic based on HP Lovecraft’s Old Ones and aliens. Every now and then I get the impression I really should read a few HP Lovecraft stories. Happily, I can count this as research at the moment, but only if there are tentacles.
